flex team stories: Nichola
In the first in a series of blog posts about the individuals who make up the core flex team, what they're working on, and life outside of the office, we hear from Nichola, flex's business development coordinator.
Today, I’m working in the flex office in Hebden Bridge. The weather here is humid, but cloudy – not an unusual day for Hebden!
I’m working on sourcing new business leads via telephone and email contact. After researching suitable businesses that would benefit from the service offered by flex, I’m now introducing the businesses to the company and having conversations to find out how we might be able to help them with their branding and communications requirements, either now or in the future. Most recently this has involved speaking with representatives of hotel chains and health clubs.
I really enjoy the contact this kind of work gives me with new people and new businesses. Working on the business development project with the team at flex is a great experience.
Most of my time outside of work recently has been spent studying. I’ve just completed a degree in Digital Media and Marketing and got a 2:1. Otherwise, in my downtime, I enjoy yoga, nice food and reading.
I’m currently reading The Boleyn King by Laura Andersen. It’s a book based on an alternative history of the Tudor era, and portrays the events that could have happened if Anne Boleyn (Henry VIII’s second wife) had given birth to a son and hadn’t been beheaded for high treason. It lives through the reign of Henry IX (also known as William), who rules over England from boyhood with the help of his sister, Elizabeth Tudor. I love Tudor history!
